So you don’t run over pesky small children with no sense of safety after they run behind your rear-window-less Fiat Van?

It is a safety feature. It’s a phillips head so you won’t slip and stab yourself in the forearm with a regular screwdriver.

I know for my stabbing rampages, it’s Torx all the way. Phillips just doesn’t offer the same advantages for twisting in the wound. Higher entry pressure is just the cost of doing business.
